The centre focuses on developing athletic performance through specialist coaching, physical conditioning and performance assessment, helping athletes understand their strengths and areas for improvement. The students spent half a day at the centre, taking part in a focused session involving elite-level fitness testing and sports performance assessments, followed by an analysis of their individual results. This gave them an opportunity to experience how sports science is applied in a professional environment and how performance data can be used to inform training and improve athletic performance. The visit also included a presentation from professional coaches, who shared their experiences and provided insight into potential career pathways and opportunities within the sports industry. Overall, it was a really worthwhile experience for the students, allowing them to take their classroom learning beyond the school environment and gain a better understanding of the practical application of sports science, performance coaching and the wider sporting industry.
