To ensure we maintain the highest standards of care, we work alongside The Safeguarding Alliance—global specialists in child protection. This partnership empowers our staff and protects our children, ensuring safeguarding is deeply embedded across our school community. Recently, we offered official Safeguarding Alliance training to our Year 5 and Year 6 Safeguarding Ambassadors. Led by Anish Karadia, Regional Director for Asia, alongside Ms. Natasha Duffin-Jones (Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead), this interactive workshop empowered our young leaders to take an active role in driving positive safety practices. What the Training Covered During the session, students engaged in hands-on learning, discussion, and active site exploration. Key topics included: · Understanding Safety & Wellbeing: Exploring what safeguarding means in school and daily life, who is responsible for keeping us safe, and identifying specific safety barriers young people face today. · UN Rights of the Child: Understanding children's rights and distinguishing between rights and wants. · Assessing Risk: Evaluating safe vs. unsafe scenarios, identifying potential and hidden risks around campus, and assessing school policies. · Support & Trusted Adults: Learning how to identify neglect, supporting peers in making disclosures, and identifying trusted adults at home, in school, and in the wider community. · Online Safety: Promoting digital safety and online wellbeing. Ambassador Role & Leadership Skills: The children were developing personal resilience, active listening skills, role-modelling, and learning how to organise events to spread awareness and support others. Big ideas and planning ahead! Student-Led Action Plans & Initiatives As part of their training, teams pitched innovative ideas to enhance school safety and wellbeing: · Monthly Assemblies: Visiting younger year group assemblies to speak about online safety and personal wellbeing. · Anti-Bullying & Peer Support: Running group support sessions and anti-bullying campaigns. · Active Playground Buddies: Ensuring ambassadors are visible during breaktimes to help and look out for fellow students. · Campus Safety Campaigns: Creating stair safety signage, holding door open campaigns, and improving facilities. We are extremely proud of our Year 5 and Year 6 Safeguarding Ambassadors for their dedication and enthusiasm. They are well-equipped to act as role models, support their peers, and make meaningful contributions to our school community!
