On the 17th and 19th March, Year 8 enjoyed a morning visit to Museum Siam to learn about what it means to be ‘Thai’. Students were guided around the museum and had a chance to study and interact with the many exhibits the museum has to offer. Exhibits included Thai Traditions, Thai Beliefs, Defining Thai and many more. The visit was part of a local study project Year 8 students are currently completing. The project asks students to focus on a particular aspect of life: Food, Fashion or Technology and learn about items that are normally associated with Thailand but have their roots in other parts of the world. For example, did you know the Tuk-Tuk we see all over the streets of Bangkok was a motorised version of the Japanese tricycle that was designed and made popular by Piaggio in Italy. The History Department would like to thank all the teachers and staff who volunteered their time to help out with the visit.
