This past Monday during Period 6, the science department hosted a high-level revision masterclass led by Year 13’s Tobey Harrington. An aspiring engineer currently predicted four A*s; Tobey shared his elite study strategies with fourteen Year 12 students aiming for top grades. Tobey demonstrated a sophisticated digital workflow, showing how he synthesizesSave My Exams, teacher slides, and IAL specifications into Anki flashcards. He emphasized the importance of:The Leitner Method & Spaced Repetition: Using scheduled retrieval practice to move information from short-term to long-term memory.Information Chunking: Keeping flashcards concise to help process complex scientific sequences without cognitive overload. After the demonstration, students practiced the "Tobey Method" by creating their own cards from the specification, receiving direct feedback on how to refine their notes. The session wrapped up with a Q&A, offering the Year 12s a rare look at the discipline required for a clean sweep of A*s. A huge thank you to Tobey for sharing his expertise and helping our future engineers and scientists’ level up their game!Mrs Richards-Gourves Head of Biology
