Moving this event further into the term was a deliberate strategy, giving students time to settle into their new timetables early on, while providing a well-timed wellbeing boost as the half-term progressed. The entire day was planned and run by 23 Assistant Head Student candidates as part of their live assessment task, and they delivered an outstanding experience for the entire school community. Activity Highlights: Assemblies: Leadership & Opportunity Following a brilliant proposal from our Student PR applicants, student leaders in the SET run tailored 25-minute assemblies across key stages. They introduced upcoming student leadership positions, breaking down what each role involves and how students can get involved. Tutor Time: Preparing for the Town Hall To ensure the afternoon's Town Hall debate was grounded and constructive, tutor groups reflected on the new timetable structure. Each House selected three core observations or concerns to bring to the floor, with SET members acting as facilitators to transform student feedback into actionable solutions. Physical: House Danish Longball Tournament House spirit was on full display in the Sports Hall and on the field as students went head-to-head in a high-energy, inter-House Danish Longball competition. Creative: Exploring Belonging Focusing on the prompt "What does it mean to belong in your form, year group, and House?", students created visual artwork and symbols capturing the shared identity across all three levels of school life. Their creations will be featured in our upcoming community House reels. Town Hall Debate: Shaping Our Future Chaired by our Head and Deputy Head Students, the Town Hall adopted a dynamic debate-and-mastermind format. House representatives debated the key question: “To what extent does the new timetable and school day prepare us for a sustainable global future?” House teams voiced their perspectives on recent changes and presented constructive proposals directly to student leaders. Connection, Coaching & Mentoring: Speed-Friending Centred around the theme of active listening, structured "speed-friending" sessions paired students from different year groups. These discussions allowed peers at different stages of their school journey to connect, share guidance, and build mentoring relationships. House Identity & Belonging Launch Gathered in vertical House venues, students established baseline Student Voice data on House identity, launched the House Captain application process, and kicked off their collaborative identity projects.
