Our Thai lessons have been extra special as the children had a wonderful opportunity to explore Chut Thai Phra Ratchaniyom (ชุดไทยพระราชนิยม), the eight styles of Thai national dress, through a collection of beautiful costume examples from the Queen Sirikit Museum of Textiles. This special collection has a fascinating story, as the costumes were previously showcased in France, allowing the children to learn about the beauty of Thai traditional dress and its international recognition. The children had the opportunity to observe the costumes up close, discovering the beautiful fabrics, intricate patterns, elegant designs and unique features of each style. They also learned that different Thai costumes are worn for different occasions, from formal ceremonies to more casual events. To make learning fun and engaging, the children took part in a variety of interactive activities and games. These activities encouraged them to identify different costume styles, notice the differences between the designs and develop a deeper understanding of Thai cultural traditions. It was a wonderful hands-on learning experience that brought Thai culture to life. Through observation, exploration and play, the children gained a greater appreciation of Thailand’s cultural heritage and the elegance of Thai traditional dress. We are proud to provide opportunities for our children to discover, experience and celebrate the beauty of Thai culture!
