Students have demonstrated tremendous focus, maturity and enthusiasm as they embrace new challenges across the curriculum. In English, building on last week’s teacher-modelled shared writing exercise, students have been developing their independence by drafting their own balanced arguments. They have explored how to structure formal discussions, use cohesive language (including on the other hand, consequently and furthermore), and maintain an objective tone. A key focus has been learning to consider opposing viewpoints, support ideas with reasoned evidence and bring arguments together with a well-considered conclusion. Through this work, students are strengthening not only their writing skills but also their ability to think critically, consider different perspectives and communicate their ideas with clarity and confidence. These are valuable skills that will support them both in the classroom and beyond.
