Jake McIntosh, Assistant Headteacher Secondary (Wellbeing)Hello parents and guardians, this article is intended to give you a summary of some important safeguarding measures at the Secondary school, and some key changes that have been implemented recently.Lanyards for KS3 and KS4 studentsWe have listened to the feedback from our community and removed the requirement for students in Years 7-11 to wear a lanyard around their neck during the school day. Importantly students will still be issued a lanyard and will be required to bring the lanyard with them to school each day. Lanyards will still be required for:Entering the school site each dayLeaving the school site if signing out earlyAccessing the libraryAccessing school printing devicesExaminations and Study LeaveStudents in years 7-11 are identifiable by their school uniform. We may ask on non-uniform days for students to wear their lanyards around their necks.Lanyards for KS5 students and adultsImportantly there is no change to the lanyard policy for students in years 12-13 and for all adults on site. Lanyards are an important part of identifying who people are on site and to ensure we keep our children safe. Parents and guardians are issued with a grey lanyard and should bring this with them whenever they access the school campus to avoid having to secure a temporary visitor lanyard. Safeguarding software - MyConcernBangkok Prep recently made a change in the software that we use to track and monitor Safeguarding and wellbeing concerns in our community. The software that we use is called MyConcern and it is an extremely safe and secure program that protects the privacy and security of confidential data. Community reporting of Safeguarding and Wellbeing concerns On the dashboard of Firefly for parents, students and staff there is an icon that allows for quick reporting of Safeguarding and wellbeing concerns within our community. There is the opportunity for the report to be submitted anonymously, however any details you feel comfortable leaving help significantly if following the concerns up further. Community reporting is intended to give all members of our community a voice and an easy route to reporting concerns they have about other members of the community.
