It is an absolute pleasure to share the highlights of what was a truly unforgettable week in our Sixth Form. As Head of Sixth Form, watching our Year 13s embrace Spirit Week with such creativity, nostalgia, and good humor has been a highlight of our academic year.Year 13 is demanding time; our students are balancing coursework assignments, exam preparation and the transition into adulthood. Spirit Week serves as a vital "pressure valve," allowing our community to pause, connect, and celebrate their journey together before they head off to pastures new. Here is a look back at how our graduating class celebrated their final Spirit Week:Monday: Old School UniformThe week kicked off with a trip down memory lane. It was surreal to see our young adults squeezed into their school polos. I was getting flashbacks to teaching many of them Business Studies in Year 10. This was a poignant start recognising that while they are preparing to leave, their roots in Bangkok Prep run deep.Tuesday: Dream Childhood JobFrom aspiring astronauts and chefs to the classic doctors and engineers (with hard hats included), the Sixth Form centre was filled with the ambitions of five-year-old versions of our students. Though their goals may have evolved into complex degrees in Engineering or International Relations, that initial spark of curiosity remains the same.Wednesday: Childhood Fictional CharactersMid-week saw a colorful invasion of fairies, superheroes, and book characters. Seeing Harry Potter discussing calculus perfectly encapsulated our value of creativity. Our students proved that no matter how much "academic rigour" they face, they haven't lost their sense of imagination.Thursday: Dress Like a TeacherThis is always a favorite (and occasionally nerve-wracking!) day for the staff. From specific laptop poses to signature hair styles and over the shoulder bum bags, the students’ "tributes" to their teachers were spot on. It was all in good fun and highlighted the strong respect that exists between our Sixth Formers and their mentors.Friday: Childhood Photo RecreationWe saved the most sentimental for last. Students arrived with photographs of themselves as kids pinned to their outfits, having painstakingly recreated the poses, expressions, and even the fashion faux-pas of their youth. Seeing just how much they have grown, adapted, and thrived over the years really was a fitting end to the week as they commenced study leave. To Mr Holt and the Year 13 Legacy Committee: thank you for organising a fantastic finale at Bangkok Prep and for reminding us all to stay young at heart. A special thank you to Nisa and Andrea for the fantastic video. Year 13, you have demonstrated that you can be serious about your futures while still embracing the joy of the present.https://youtu.be/kPoBbG-RPG8
