2023 Kids Lit Quiz

What type of service do The Giraffe, The Pelly and Me (in the book of the same name) provide? At what age did Matilda learn to read? What is Harry Potter’s middle name? What is Spider Man’s real name? Which boy was described as ‘man cub’? What animal did Alice follow in Wonderland?

On Monday 15th May, 13 international schools, 36 teams, and 144 students met at Bangkok Patana School to compete to win the 2023 Kids Lit Quiz shield and a chance to play in the world finals this summer in New Zealand.

Students under the age of 14 are eligible to compete. Bangkok Prep had the youngest teams in the competition. Bangkok Prep Team 1 was made up of Year 6 students Fasai, Arinjay, Kitt and Beau. Year 6 student, Mila, joined Year 7 students Mita, Siya, and Jasmine to form Bangkok Prep Team 2.

Bangkok Prep 1 tied for second place while Bangkok Prep 2 tied for 3rd place during the first half of the competition.

However, Bangkok Prep 2 persevered and played exceptionally well in the second half; beating 30 other teams to place in the final top 6 for the buzzer round.

In between heats, there were questions that the audience and participants could answer and win Kinokuniya gift vouchers. Arinjay, Mila, Mita, Jasmine, Siya, Mila’s mum, and Mr Reeves each took home a prize!

Well done to both teams for an exceptional performance and in demonstrating their love for reading! We’re proud of you.
